Tzardz Galtac Animation Final by whodagoose Tzardz Galtac Animation Final by whodagoose
EDIT: Alright, I promise this is the last time I modify the Galtac™ animation. I just wanted the whole thing 100% done with jungle background and secondary animation etc. Scale is very important.

NOTE: View this GIF in Mozilla Firefox or Opera Browsers. IE, Safari, and Chrome play the animation in slow motion. Also please be patient, it is a 3MB download. Thanks!

I pulled out one of my two sketch pads of Tzardz™ concept art filled to the brim with all sorts of animals, monsters, and beasts of legend all converted into Marble Meckah™ and this one, Galtac™ jumped out at me.

I started this late yesterday afternoon. It took me under 24 hours to finish modeling, textures, and rigging. I animated the GIF and put it all together in FLASH in under 4 hours. (I'm so suprised I got this done so fast!)

What is interesting is I'm working in Poly objects this time, instead of Mesh objects. Mesh objects use triangles (for video games), Polys are square (for non-games). They both have different options/interfaces for deforming the vertices.

This one is a bit too large to be an avatar, sorry for the stamp in the corner. Have to advertise.

Hope you enjoy!

3D Model and animation- 3D Studio Max V8
GIF compositing and smoke/light effects- FLASH 5.0

Holyshit...this is awesome stuff.

The rigging of the character looks interesting. Were any bones used? Or was it all just pivot points constraints?

Its done at a hierarchy, no bones. The animation itself is done with no interpolation between keyframes. I move each joint on each frame. Its like doing stop motion animation.

3D Studio max for the model. Flash 5 for the lighting/dust effects and compositing the GIF together. Photoshop for drawing the background.

I really like how smooth your animations are. Right down to the zooming and dust and the ground shaking. Very nicely done. :)

The zooming in these is a pain in the butt with Flash 5. Its not really built for doing camera moves. Just to give you an idea, each keyframe of any zoom/shake takes about 8-15 seconds of processing after I add the frame before I can click again or do anything. Ugh, need to upgrade.

Why thank you :) Yeah, I've helped several teams in the XNA community with their self published games for the 360. One of those teams has gotten its game up there so far (Poker Ball- I did the backgrounds).

Rather than return to doing contributions for teams I'm doing my own game this time. So since I already know object oriented scripting in Flash Its a moderate step up to C# scripting for XNA. I should be able to do so.

I've been working on Tzardz™ for a long time so I've got a lot of CG done for it. Once I've got the knack of C# I'll be putting together a simple game and trying to get it published on the XNA community and maybe make myself some $cratch. Wishful thinking.

I'm going to be moving to Virginia at the end of this month. I'll be there for about 3 months till I'm called to move to Philly to my next animation gig.

Until them I've got all that rent free time to bust out insane amounts of art... :):):)
